A well bred "Dog" should weigh between 18-22 pounds, a well bred "bitch" will weigh between 16-20 lbs. HOWEVER the majority of Scotties purchased through back yard breeders, pet stores and subsequent puppy mills are POORLY bred and will DRASTICALLY go over this. I have seen some "pet store" scotties that weigh as much as 35 lbs!
