what distinguishes an organism from non living matter?
Living Organisms have to be able to respond to different stimuli, such as light or sound. Organisms have to have the ability to grow and reproduce as well. A fish Does grow in its life time, a fish does have stimuli, and they can reproduce. So a fish is considered an organism. All animals are also multicellular. Fish are multi cellular, and therefore are considered animals.
