Goats are never "weaned" from their feeding. When they are lactating they are fed a high protein grain. The only time you don't feed this is when they are dry. You start again about 2 weeks before birth, usually with simple corn. If you mean bottles, doe kids that are herd replacements, usually 3 months. Meat kids longer to get a better quality meat. As a lover of chevon, I fed milk up to the day of slaughter. Buck kids for herd replacement or sale, usually 3 months, also.
If you are bottle feeding the kids, you will want to introduce solid feed and hay gradually. You can then ease off the bottle feeding, and they will eat more solid feed. I wean my goats at 90 days.
Sprint is pretty good so is AT&T but I have to love the straight talk cell phones. They are cheap and easy to use and I have never lost service and I live in the country. I get service in the sticks and in the city.
There are so many things that you can use your goat for today; the possibilities are endless! Generally, there are three types of goats: meat goats, angora goats and dairy goats. The meat goats are Boer goats, which is their breed, but often dairy goat wethers (boys that are unable to produce offspring) are killed and eaten. Angora and Cashmere goats are goats that are bred for their wool, just like sheep. Their wool is fluffy and curly. Their are many breeds of Dairy goats, although common are Saanen's, Nubian's, British Alpine's, Toggenburg's, Sables and Australian Melaan. Saanens are white in colour and produce the most milk, although Alpine's milk is creamier. Nubians are strange, as they have very long ears! Although you might be very put off by all those 'My Highland Goatie Oatie Oatie Oatie Oatie' songs and stories about goats eating clothes off your washing line, this is not true! Goats are beautiful and calm creatures that make perfect pets for people of all ages. Please Google pictures of these goats as they are so beautiful. Showing your goats is fun, and anybody can do it! All you need to do is have your goat registered with your dairy branch. Goats parade in a circle and are judged on size, quality and milk. Goat kids are the cutest animals around, as they are so delightfully bubbly in personality. They will jump all over you! There; now do you know what you can do with a goat?!
They could if they were cohabitating but they would not stay on the dog very long as goat lice prefer goats.
Approximately 150 days, not 180
No a goat will not pass out if you stare at it. LOL Though you might if it stares at you long enough, they are the masters of eye contact esp. when hungry. The only goat that will appear as if it is passing out is the fainting goat and they do that when startled or frightened. Well, ive watched the film 'the men who stare at goats' and apparently its suposed to be based on a true story along with the other information which it describes in the film.
I have a goat that is half Alpine and half Fainting goat... She is 19 years old this Spring... someone forgot to tell her that goats don't live that long... She is happy and healthy, and strictly ornamental meaning that she does not eat bushes like most goats... She prefers grain, grass and fruit New contribution= As of Aug 12 2010, my goat, Gizmo, is 21 yrs old and still going strong. He is a Pygmy goat and plays with 9 other goats, Pygora, Oberhasli, Miniature Pygmy other Pygmies and a Cashmere named Aladdin. Gizmo became part of our family, in 1989, which started our petting farm. I make sure I say goodnight to him, each evening. From Joe at Happy Trails Ponies and Petting Farm
