Usually a minimum of 2-3 weeks. However, it depends on if you follow the directions given to you by your doctor. Those who take care of an arm in a cast USUALLY have their casts removed sooner rather than later. Those who don't are forced to wear it longer :) So take care and it will be off in a jiffy!

A fiberglass wrist cast typically weighs around 0.5-1 pound, depending on the size and thickness of the cast.
After a cast is removed from a broken wrist, finger numbness can persist for a few days to several weeks, depending on the severity of the injury and any nerve involvement. This numbness is often due to swelling, stiffness, or irritation of the nerves. It's important to gently move and rehabilitate the fingers to promote circulation and healing. If numbness continues or worsens, it's advisable to consult a healthcare professional.

A short long arm cast is a type of orthopedic cast that extends from the elbow to the wrist, covering the forearm but leaving the fingers exposed. It is typically used to immobilize and protect injuries such as fractures or sprains in the forearm or wrist. The "short" designation indicates that it does not extend all the way to the upper arm, providing a balance between support and mobility. This cast allows for some movement of the elbow while still stabilizing the forearm.

My daughter has a buckle fractue of her wrist. She had a plaster of Paris cast for one week and now has a splint on for 2 weeks, she can take the splint off for showers and when she isn't active. She can return to netball after a further week without the splint. 4Weeks in total.
To regain movement in a stiff wrist after a cast comes off, gentle exercises like wrist circles, wrist flexion and extension stretches, and wrist rotations can help. Gradually increase the intensity of exercises as the wrist becomes less stiff, but avoid overexertion to prevent injury. It may also be helpful to consult with a physical therapist for a tailored rehabilitation plan.
