When birthing, there can be long periods between puppies. If there has been more than an hour between pups, there may be a problem. If this is the case, make sure the mother dog does not act like she is in stress. Look for labored breathing, cant lay still, things like that. If she shows these symptoms, please call a vet. You also can gently press on her abdomen to feel for any pups that may(or may not) remain.
