A quaint riddle is where the answer is in the riddle. There are many of riddles like this. A riddle that the answer is right in front of you is called is collection riddle. There are many of riddles that are like that.
Wax and honey are not the same thing. The bees make wax to store honey inside. The honey is a separate substance that the bees use for food.
If you are hoping for enough honey to collect for yourself you would have to use honey bees. They are a social insect and will only survive as part of a colony. This would mean it would have to be a very large jar because you would need to hold a colony of something like 40,000 to 60,000 bees. They would also need to be able to come and go as they please to forage for pollen and nectar. There would be a problem, however. The bees would build honeycomb in which to store the honey -- how are you going to get it out of the jar without killing the bees? All in all, it would be much better to use a proper beehive.
One way (if you are near trees or something you can tie it to) is to take a brown paper bag (any will do even a fast food bag) and make it look sort of like a bees nest. (Blow a little air into it to get a roundish shape and close up the top) You can also buy fake ones but this is much easier. Hang it up near the area and it keeps the bees away. I tried this technique and it worked! From this solution, I have to guess that bees mistake the puffed-up bag for a hornet's nest and that they are bitter enemies, mortal enemies and avoid trouble by not pushing their luck and just leaving the other's territory.
Four ounces is about 113 grams. The entire life's work of one honey bee leads to the production of about 580 milligrams of honey.113 / 0.58 = 195.51So, it takes approximately 196 bees to produce four ounces of honey.
Depends on big (or little) the jar is. ...or it depends how many cookies are actually in the jar!
It will attract flies ants and bees, and will also likely go moldy
