According to the Wikipedia article on geometer moths, inchworms are larvae of those moths, and have two or three pairs of legs on each end of the body. This would imply eight to twelve legs.

the biggest worm ever found was found in Turkey on March 8th 2006. It was 28.6 inches in length and weighed just over a pound. It was found by a young boy who ran to his mother yelling about how he just found a snake. The mother was so scared by the size of the worm that she hit it with a shovel, cutting it in half and leaving herself with two large worms
