The reasons fatalities are so high are 1) In many parts of Africa, people work, bath, and fish from the same riverbanks where crocodiles hunt, 2) There is oddly little caution taken by many of these people to avoid areas where others have been killed in croc attacks, and 3) Crocs are one of the few creatures on earth that actually prey on man for food. Some animals, such as sharks, some bear, and big cats, may kill and eat humans when we invade their area, but they do not purposefully stalk humans (usually).

As many or more people may also be injured in croc attacks, losing limbs or worse.

Crocs never stop growing their entire lives and may live more than 100 years! This makes for a terribly dangerous, wise, and huge beast.
