Litter size varies a great deal from depending on the individual, but the average number in a standard dachshund litter is about 3-8. Mini-dachshunds will usually have smaller litters than the standard size, perhaps 2-5.
Note the spelling of this breed: Dachshund. Dachs is German for badger, while hund means dog. These hounds were bred to dig into badger dens and chase the animal into the open.
