No poisonous birds or mammals, but about 30 poisonous snakes and many insects that sting or have a poisonous bite. Notable snakes are the Black Mamba and Gaboon Viper, and the Baboon Spider is probably the most spectacular of the venomous spiders. ___________________________________________________ There is only one deadly spider in South Africa (the black widow) and only 3 deadly species of scorpion.
