I took my 13 week old kitten to an animal clinic yesterday and the vet prescribed 4cc's 2x's daily of augmentin. what is it used for ? Last night and today she is extremely congested I can hear it in her lungs. why didn't vet take x-ray to see if it's pneumonia. She's not playing, eating, or wanting to drink water. I think she justy having a hard enough time just breathing. I'm scared for her. i'm angry because we were there just yesterday and it all should have been looked into then. Now the poorthing has to go back and wait hours to be seen again. How can you tell if it is pneumonia? She won't even put her head down to sleep. She keeps her head up and back a little maybe because it helping her to get air in her passages!?
The exact dosage that is recommended for giving a cat Augmentin varies depending on the size, weight, age of the cat. It is best to visit a vet for dosage information for your cat.
You should only give your cat amoxil if its been precribed by the Vet for infection. They will give you the dosage rate, which is usually bodyweight x 10 / 100, for the 10mg/ml.
Augmentin can be harmful to cats if the right dosage is not given. For this reason, it is important for people who believe their cats have a UTI to contact a vet.
It is not recommended that you give your cat Phenergan. If your cat is sick, it is better for her to get it out of her system.
Overheating can cause a cat to get sick. The best thing you can do for the cat is to help him keep cool and give him plenty of water.
This is a question for the vet who has prescribed Amoxicillin for your cat. It is common for owners to be given a week's worth of antibiotics to give to their cat at home, but this may vary. Consult your vet if you are unsure.
There's no such thing as "human amoxicillin", and you should not give unprescribed antibiotics to your cat (you shouldn't even HAVE them... you're supposed to take all the antibiotics prescribed for you, even if you "feel better" when you've still got pills left).
A cat that is sick is called a sick cat
Give your cat 5 - 10 mg/lb once daily for 5 - 7 days then continue for 48 hrs after symptoms have subsided.

Amoxicillin should not be given to a cat unless a vet has prescribed the medication because a cat is not genetically the same as a human. Giving a cat medication that is for humans could kill the cat.
It is bad to give your cat tuna mixed with moyo.I did it once and it made my cat sick. It's much better to give your cat some tuna before it is mixed with the mayonnaise, or perhaps just give them the can with the leftovers in it. A tiny, tiny bit of mayonnaise with the tuna won't hurt them, but it's just much better, safer, healthier and tastier for the cat if you give it to them without it.
Chickens cannot vomit - however, if you give a chicken too much cat food, it will make them sick.

It would proably be best to get advice from your vetrinarian on this. This site answeres general questions, it is not set up to provide detailed medical advice.
Enough of any plant can make a cat sick. Just because a cat eats a plant does not mean it will get sick. Vomiting (curly tongue) is an indication that a cat has eaten too much plant.
Why would you want to give your cat amoxicillin? If your cat is acting sick, then take him or her to your Veterinarian to diagnose what is truly wrong with the cat. Using antibiotics on any animal when you don't know what is wrong with it can be dangerous. You need to know what is wrong first, then what treatment or antibiotic (if one is needed) is the right way to treat your cat. There are so many dangers in giving antibiotics. Such as, did you know that Tetracycline when old or outdated can become toxic? Certain types of amoxicillin such as the powdered type should be refrigerated, etc. You could under dose or overdose or just flat make your pet sicker, so it is very important to take your pet into your local Vet to be diagnosed first. Good luck to you and your cat.
Give it food, water, shelter, and love. If it is sick, get it to a veterinarian.
