It depends on how many you are raising. We have 25 in our hen house. Our hen house is a large outdoor house. Our chickens are free to run the house. We only cage the rooster when we clean the house because he defends his territory, even against us. He doesn't believe in, "Don't bite the hand that feeds you." When we're done cleaning we let him out and run like heck for the door. Kind of a game we got going on with "Hank". We let him out of the cage, and he tries to "box" the heck out of your shins or whatever he can reach by the time you reach the door. We collect the eggs first by the way. We get about 18 eggs a day with this many chickens. When ever you have any kind of farm animal, you must check on them daily or like us, a couple of times per day. We feed them twice a day, morning and evening.
because ducks take so much more a simple flock of chickens can be content with a small back yard with no fence a bird seed and your grass to eat but a single duck takes so much, it needs water it's poops a ton needs a large area and needs quite a bit more food and speacial food too
It would still take 21 days for 14 chickens to lay 14 eggs, assuming each chicken lays one egg per day. The number of chickens doesn't affect the time it takes each chicken to lay one egg.
How many chickens are in your world will vary greatly depending on where you live. Some people raise just a few chickens to collect eggs. Some people raise thousands of chickens as a business producing eggs or meat chickens.
They would if they could, but roadrunners live in arid, dry areas, where there is no oppurtunity to have fish.
Chickens will eat almost any type of meat. Processed bacon is not good on a regular basis as it contains too much salt and preservatives but the occasional piece will not hurt them, its just extra protein. Chickens at age 5 months should be nearing ready to lay and if you raise them for that purpose you should take then off chick builder meal and start feeding laying mash for the extra protein and minerals including calcium. If you are raising meat birds they should be on Meat builder rations by that age.
Give it to the boy raising chickens. He will give you a chicken. Take it to the farm (right).

Yes a skunk will take eggs and kill chickens. Late at night when the chickens roost they are very docile and will allow a predator to come right up to them without much fear.
Yes. Both chickens and Alpaca will eat and enjoy pumpkins. The chickens will eat the meat and seeds of a pumpkin. The Alpaca will eat skin, meat and seeds. Alpaca's will get most of a shared pumpkin because chickens really do eat like a bird and the Alpaca can take much bigger bites.
Many breeds of dog naturally take to herding. If you keep the dog with you as you do your daily chores it will soon learn that the movement of the chickens is not a signal to "play" Dogs naturally want to please the "Alpha". Repeated commands to "take them home" and praise or a treat when they do well will soon have the dogs happily herding hens.
