I don't know how much a Degu costs at petland, but I wouldn't recommend getting one from a petstore. Any pet you get from a petstore comes either from a breeding mill or an inexperienced breeder, and 90% of the time has health problems. If you want to get a degu first do your research and then go to: www.degus.com/breeders.HTML For a list of good breeders.

How much does rabbits cost at petland?

Most PetSmarts and pet stores do not sell rabbits anymore. If you would like a house rabbit, I would recommend that you visit your local shelter or rabbits rescue. Through them, you can obtain a healthy rabbit that has been fixed and perhaps microchipped from ~$25+.

I am planning to buy a degu do you need 2 degus or is 1 ok?

Two degus are much, much better. Two are better because degus are very social animals and absolutely crave attention. You could get one though, if you gave it lots of attention everyday.

How much does a degu weigh?

"A dog cost depends on what type of dog you want. Whether it's big or small or medium." - previous answer I'm leaving the old answer as a reminder that when looking into an exotic pet you should always look for a community forum specific to that animal and those who know how to care for them. The first thing I would like to mention is that Degu are highly social animals. They need companionship to stay happy and healthy so I would recommend having at least two. As I recently adopted three male degu from a shelter, and one of them had babies this morning, I would highly suggest also looking up how to sex them yourself and looking before you buy. I now have a total of seven Degu. Degu are very active and need space to be active in. This means they should have a large habitat to live in, with toys (like wheels to run in) to keep them from getting obese. A chinchilla or ferret size cage will work as long as they are also getting safe play time out of the cage. I have used this site for information for my Chinchillas. There are also many sites out there that are homes to breeders and owners where you can ask questions and get help with Degu. If this is more info than you wanted, I would advise you looking into a different pet. They have some very specific needs, like temps between 60 and 70 degrees Fahrenheit, NO SUGAR (...so no fruit, no pellets that have molasses in them, and no veggies that are naturally high in sugars.), and never get them wet. They take dust baths. If they get wet the water can get trapped in their fur and cause bacteria to grow and eat their skin. Here is a list of the cost break down Cage (of appropriate size, No plastic as they will chew through it) around $100-$300, Exercise Wheel about $20, places to hide anywhere from $10 to $100 depending on how much you buy (Just no plastic as they will chew it and eat it), $5-$10 ceramic food dish, Glass water bottle (not plastic, again they chew anything they can get their teeth on) about $20 for a good size one, Bedding for the cage about $40 to 60 a month, Hay about $10-$15 a month, Pellets about $20 a month, Hay blocks $7 a month, These are just the basics. So to start up you will need anywhere from $215 with around $100 a month is supplies to $535 with around $100 a month in supplies. Keep in mind this is not including the cost of the animal itself or the cost of vet care. I would never want to discourage anyone from owning a Degu. They can be amazing pets, and I know I love mine. They also require a decent amount of time bonding with their owner. I only have pointed out all of these things so you can understand what you are getting into before you buy. Also keep in mind there are a lot of people who didn't do the research before hand and now want to rehome their Degu. There is always a chance you can get a pair from a rescue with all their supplies for around $100. Not only is this a huge cost saver to you, but you could be saving the life of an animal who isn't receiving proper care.
