Ear cropping is performed on certain breeds for cosmetic reasons and serves no real purpose other than for looks. Supporters claim that cropping the ears prevents infections and mites. As the operation is performed under anaesthetic it is painless, but of course all operations carry a risk. Therefore it is a matter of personal opinion whether you agree with this operation or not. It is not damaging to the dog's health unless something goes wrong whilst the dog is under the anaesthetic.

∙ 15y agoi dont know and i dont care, i dont believe in cropping ears or docking tails. if the dog is born with them features then the dog should be kept like that. do you have children? if your daughter/son was born with weird ears, would you go and get them cropped? no so why do it to dogs???

∙ 15y agoNever crop your dog's ears. It does not help them in any way, but is just for the owner's pleasure. It's sick and wrong, along with cutting a dog's tail. Don't do it.
