It depends on the breed and the type of hair the dog has. To keep a Maltese, wheaton, shih tsu, havanese, doodle or a poodle neat and clean in a puppy cut, every six weeks would suffice. Cockers, yorkies and some terriers may go longer in between grooms, but the nails usually need clipping every six weeks.

at my salon we have quite a few yorkies and Maltese on a 2wk maintance plan i have one that comes every week for a bath and fluff dry. maintance should include a bath, a feet trim, a potty trim, and a eyesite trim, ear plucking/cleaning, anal glands, and nail trim
