How old does a goat live?

For larger breeds, breed 'by weight'; 70-85lbs, usually between 7-9months of age.

Other breeds, such as the Nigerian dwarf or Pygmy, can be bred after 9 months, but it is always better for them to kid before 2yrs of age.

For bucks, they're 'able' by 8-10weeks for most goats, but it is better to wait till the goat is 3-4months old before using him.

As soon as possible. Goats and Lambs are generally castrated at 2-3 days of age. If you are much later than this it becomes progressively more stressful for the lamb. It becomes very difficult to castrate after 2-3 months of age. If this is needed then I routinely use local anesthetic blocks to relieve pain and stress.
