well your breakfast egg is not a chick. to have a chick a hen must get fertilized by a rooster. the egg will taste no different. then the egg is layed. sometimes a hen will sit on it for about a month coming out for some food a couple times a day. the hen will hourly rotate the eggs. then a chick will hatch! the stores do this a different way. they get the fertilized egg, and something called an incubator that heats the eggs. you can buy some auto rotators to rotate the eggs for you though.
If an egg yolk is black, it usually means there is old blood in there. It can happen to old hens who are laying eggs. The eggs should not be eaten.
At 12 weeks old, chicken chicks will have grown significantly in size and will start to develop their adult feathers. They will also be more active and curious, exploring their surroundings with more confidence. By this age, you should be able to see their mature coloring and feather patterns starting to come in.
A large chicken is called a standard, whereas a small chicken is a bantam.
A spatchcock chicken can be any age, but it should not be too young as it will not have developed good breast meat. Also, if it is too old, say more than six months, the meat may be tough and taste very gamey. Spatchcocking is not related to age, but is merely a method of cooking chicken. It is done by cutting the chicken open along the backbone so that the chicken can be flattened out for cooking.
It's important to monitor your chicken's behavior, as lack of appetite can be caused by stress, illness, or environmental factors. Ensure that your chicken has access to fresh water and a balanced diet, offering treats like mealworms or fruits to entice them. If the issue persists, consider seeking advice from a veterinarian who specializes in poultry.

A spring chicken is one born in the spring. If you think about it, you can see how "spring chicken" would mean a young chicken. Chickens do not have long lives, escpecially when they are destined to be eaten for Sunday dinner. The flock of little yellow, fluffy chicks running around are spring chickens. Old people started using that as a humorous way to joke about how old they were. "I'm no spring chicken," someone will say, "but I can still get out on the dance floor."

The commercial with the dancing chicken is an advertisement for Bojangles Country Ham Biscuit. It begins with a chicken dancing and then asks the question, "Why is this chicken so happy?" The commercial is hilarious and never seems to get old. I have searched for the commercial online but have not been able to find it yet.
Eighteen seems reasonable.
Depends on how old the chicken is.
