Well, Guinea pigs love attention so make sure they know you love and care for them. When you are holding Guinea pigs make sure you are holding him/her with care and support. When it comes to feeding them they don't need to eat every hour of the day, maybe at night or in the morning give them a carrot or an apple slice or maybe even a piece of celery. But through out the day make sure they have pellets and clean water

Taking care of a guinea-pig is rather similar to taking care of a hamster. Guinea-pigs cage must be cleaned out at least once a week. The should get fresh water and food at least once a day. Guinea-pigs need to run around, every day they should be put outside (or inside) in a run. Guinea-pigs need to be combed and checked for fleas at least once a month, and it is wise to take your guinea-pig to the vets when the claws start to look a little long. If your guinea-pig is not walking properly, check it's claws, they've probably been cut too short or they're too long. Your pets' cage/hutch must at least be big enough for it to be able to stretch out as far as possible.
hi i am kate i know lots of helpful advice....First you need a cage then a water bottle and a food dish make sure he or she has a good diet and for play get a toy or a play set cage he or she will adore it!It is important you play and feed the pet every breakfast lunch and dinner if you do not have animal food try giving it a carrot or lettuce for cleaness make sure you have bedding for the healtherst i would pick pine that is the best for guinea pigs......Bye Bye.....Take good care of your furry friend.
Well, the main things you need are food, a hutch, bedding and a water container. Guinea Pig food can be bought at most pet stores, also, fresh fruit is good for a healthy guinea pig. Wood shavings make very nice bedding, this should be spread in its 'bedroom,' which should be separate from the rest of it's hutch. Clean, fresh water should always be available, this should be kept in a bottle attached to the side of the cage, or in a bowl. Keep in mind that the guinea pig may upturn this bowl, so a bottle is best. The food should be kept in a heavy bowl, I have found small flowerpots to be very useful. Guinea Pigs are best social, so playing and spending quality time with your guinea pig is a good thing. Enjoy your pet! :)
Guinea pigs are really easy to take care of, they just need some simple nessesities. They need a good size cage to run in Fresh grass and water every day Food from pet shop and a buddy If you haven't got a guinea pig already think about those in rescue centers that are in need of a loving home. Hope this helps
first of all we must provide them suitable place to live in and their favorite foods.since the colour of their hair is white so we have to give special care for it and make sure that you provide them healthy food recommended by the vetnery staff.
First, when you have the supplies, take the water bottle, fill it with COLD water. Then, attach it to the cage. Only, feed your guinea pig water, it's food from the pet store, (I reccomend global pet foods), and any carrots or lettuce. You should give your guinea pig a plastic igloo. They like to hide. I also think the cage should go in your bedroom. They hate being alone. I'd have to say, it's not hard to take care of your gunea pig.
Its very easy. All u need is a cage, Timothy hay, food, water, vitam C tablets, and good care. For more info go to your local pet store
Well, good question. Many people have no clue how to really take care of a guinea pig. I have one guinea pig, you should really have two. My parents wouldn't let me have another. I'll give you a refined list on how to take care of one.
1. Research on guinea pigs. This can really help, and the more you research the more you know what is spoof and what is not.
2. Know that owning 2 guinea pigs requires a 10.5 sq. ft. cage. You must have plenty of hay, food , and toys. Let me tell you how much this is going to cost. Getting a good cage with fleece (fleece instructions below) and a second story with a kitchen from this website, guineapigcagesstore.com , is about 350 to 400 dollars. Make sure you get the cubby system so your guinea pig isn't sitting on the floor. You can get a 20 dollar bag of bedding at Farm and Home that lasts you 2-3 months, and a ten dollar bag of hay that lasts you a month. A water and food bowl is about 5 dollars, and a seven dollar bag of guinea pig food from Meijers can last you a long time (just pick out all the treats, NOT GOOD FOR YOUR PIGS) Veggies every week is about 5 dollars as well. You have to wash your fleece every week, so that can count in for your water bill. That's all the prices.
3. Share with your parents what you know. Give them the start up/weekly/monthly prices. They will be impressed if you act responsible and know what you are doing if you get a guinea pig.
4. Start researching on the different kinds of guinea pigs. If you don't have time to brush their hair every day, you might want a shorthaired one. If you have a lot of time on your hands and love cute little mops like my piggie, get a longhaired one.
5. If your parents said yes, it's time to save up some money. It might take a while, though. If your parents are willing to pitch in, you will be lucky. The start up price is about 500 dollars, but that's just a rough estimate. Here is the brands I recommend and such:
- Petco water bottle (3 dollars)
- heavy ash tray for food (3 dollars)
- Demonte hay (10 dollars)
- Meijer's guinea pig food (7 dollars, MUST TAKE OUT TREATS)
- Premier pet ASPEN bedding (20 dollars)
- Celery, bell peppers, parsley, spinach, romaine lettuce, grapes, etc (about 5 dollars/week)
- guinea pig cage w/kitchen, piggy patio, fleece flippers and cubby system ( 400 dollars)
Now I will talk about individual subjects.
WATER BOTTLE:
This is probably the most important choice if you are gone a lot. You can choose any brand you want, but Petco's has served me well. The wire that holds it up may be a piece of junk, but it distributes a good amount of water in the pig's mouth so he/she doesn't choke, and it stays up well if you put it in the right position. Please check your guinea pig's water twice a day and clean it out every day with hot water only. Don't use any soap, it can make him/her sick and it will taste bad. After you wash it with hot water, cool it off quickly with cold water and fill it up. Please, this is important. Your guinea pig can get seriously sick if you don't refill it often.
FOOD/FOOD BOWL
I read the label on Meijer's guinea pig food, and it's fine. The only thing is that all the pet stores have treats in their food, and guinea pigs can't have the treats. If the food doesn't have treats, like Oxbow or something, it is WAY expensive. Meijer's is the cheapest, 7 dollars for ten pounds of food. Make sure you pick out all the treats, though. They aren't good for his/her diet. Feed your guinea pig two times a day, no more no less.
Make sure you get a heavy, shallow food bowl. I have a clear ash tray for my food bowl. It works great! I don't recommend that you use it for cigarettes, though! The ash tray is heavy enough that it can't be flipped over, and Squeak can step in it easily (piggies tend to do that).
HAY:
Hay is essential for every guinea pig. It helps wear down their teeth, and it is good for digestion. You have to get Timothy hay, not alfalfa. Alfalfa tends to make them extremely fat. I recommend Demonte Timothy hay. My guinea pig likes it best out of all hay, and it is one of the cheapest too. It's ten dollars for a big bag. Most bags are about 6 dollars for a fourth of what Demonte gives. Guinea pigs need an unlimited hay supply. I also recommend putting hay in their hiding places, which is also in the toys section with more info.
FLEECE/BEDDING:
In the cage I have, I use bedding in the kitchen and fleece in the play area. I really like Premier Pet bedding for my kitchen. Once again, it is the cheapest and one with the most quality. It's twenty dollars for a huge bag, that usually lasts you 2 or 3 months. Don't put too much bedding in the kitchen, though. It can irritate your guinea pig greatly.
Fleece is a great addition to a cage. Fleece is on top, two layers of U-Haul pad are next, and a layer of choroplast is last. Fleece Flippers can be flipped when lightly soiled. Although, you need to wash fleece and U-Haul pads every week with a very very gentle detergent with NO SMELL WHATSOEVER!!!!!!! Fleece needs to be brushed off every day, because it has a dirty little secret. >:D
VEGGIES:
Guinea pigs NEED vitamin C like us, or they will get scurvy. It is important to feed them 3 different vegetables through the day. Some of them need to have vitamin C.
I feed my guinea pig celery, spinach, grapes (not too often, fruit with lots of sugar isn't really that good for them), parsley, romaine lettuce, cucumber, bell peppers (red is the best, NO SEEDS), and carrots. Don't even think about feeding your piggie rotten vegetables! Only feed them what you would eat.
THE GUINEA PIG:
You can interact with your guinea pig by petting, playing, and talking to them. Providing toys and tunnels for exercise and mental stimulation can also be enjoyable for them. Additionally, offering a variety of fresh vegetables and hay for them to munch on can keep them happy and healthy.
You should go to your local vet and tell him or her about your guinea pig's pain and he or she will give you some medication.
It is spelled "guinea pig". You got it right! :)
In the video game Viva Piñata, guinea pigs are not one of the available piñata species that can be obtained. Players can attract and interact with a variety of other colorful and unique piñata creatures in the game.
No, guinea pigs should not be put in a guinea pig ball because they have delicate spines that can be injured by the rolling motion. It is better to provide a safe and spacious enclosure for your guinea pig to explore and play in.
The guinea pig should see a veterinarian. The veterinarian can discover the cause of the guinea pig's hair loss, and he or she can see what should be done for the guinea pig.
you should never put a guinea pig with a chinchilla
you should probably brush your Guinea Pig for about 5-10 minutes
