Unfortunately yes. It depends how old the cat is or if there are complications, but it's not as common as you would think. Kittens that are not healthy will often die (that's mother nature working.)

Although, deaths can be prevented by giving the mama kitty a healthy nutritional diet while pregnant, thus containing dry and canned food. *cheap brands might not give cats their full nutrients. You also want to make sure the cat is rid of fleas. Fleas can infest the litter causing anemia and a slow and painful death. * the only way to de-flea a pregnant cat and/or her kittens is a bath in warm water with Dawn dishsoap followed by a flea comb. repeat as needed as fleas can re-appear. Towel dry and keep warm!
