owls can see extremly well, at night. there vision is so good (at night) that they choose to hunt then, as its so much easier then, then in the day light!

I own a Canon SD1100 camera and had a horned owl land on my TV antenna in Illinois. I attempted to take a picture and the second it was in the frame, it flew away. A few weeks later, I discovered it on a small billboard and attempted to take another picture. At exactly the same moment the camera was trained on it; it flew away. I believe the distance sensing focus infra-red light from the camera may've caused this reaction two different times. So I believe it may be possible that they can see (and do not like) infra-red at night.
