India has enormous potential for producing ornamental fish, because of its abundance in species diversity. Favourable climatic conditions, and accessibility of low-cost labour. In India, ornamental fish farming is primarily practice in Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and West Bengal. There are two types of ornamental species: native and foreign. The abundance of native species has made it possible for the country's ornamental fish sector to grow dramatically. North-eastern states, West Bengal, Kerala and Tamil Nadu are loaded with potential indigenous species. 90% of native species are harvested and raised for export (85% are from northeast India). Currently, fish from almost 100 native species are raised for aquariums. Because of their unique colours, shapes and exotic species are also in high demand.
As far as birds go, owls have the best night vision. This is due to their enormous eyes and large pupils that let in a lot of light when dilated. In the mammal sector, cats and bush babies have the best nocturnal sight. A cat's pupils widen into big circles to let more light in when it becomes dark. The leaf-tailed gecko has more light sensitive cells in their eyes than humans, allowing them to see objects as well as colors at night. Then, the Ogre-faced spider can see perfectly at night because of a ridiculously light-sensitive layer of cells that covers their eyes. Lastly, the Colossal Squid has "built-in" headlights in each eye, that when focused forward, makes enough light for the squid to see it's prey in the dark.
Advantages: - provide food for many people esp. in livestock sector - provide companion animals for people to enjoy caring for and being with - gain knowledge and experience handling and rearing animals - pride of ownership - satisfaction of end-product or how the animals have worked out for you - make use of land that is not suitable for other argicultural sectors esp. with grazing animals (sheep, cattle, goats) - make use of excess grain and feed to feed animals - make use of some food-waste products to be fed to animals who might benefit from it - obtain income from selling excess stock - responsibility to find adequate management practices to maintain health of livestock but also have a low-cost operation - can gain emotional and spiritual attachment to animals that one raises, depending on the livestock or companion animals being raised - huge responsibility to maintain basic needs - pride in seeing animals reared from babyhood grow into adults Disadvantages: - responsibility to find adequate management practices to maintain health of livestock but also have a low-cost operation - make use of some food-waste products to be fed to animals who might benefit from it - huge responsibility to maintain animals' basic needs - costs in buying feed/food for animals, building shelter/handling facilities - no such thing as holidays when raising animals - much hard work and endless chores involved - in most livestock sectors there is little money gained from selling stock; most are in it for the pleasure - financial and marketing responsibilities for selling animals - can be tiring feeding baby animals every 2 hours 24/7

the primary sector is in decline because the tertiary sector is growing so there is a higher percentage of workers in the tertiary sector than the primary sector
