I would definitely classify water as the solvent of life. Water is unusually versatile because its polar molecules are attracted to charged and polar substances and the polarity of water molecules result in hydrogen bonding. The four emergent properties of water contribute to the Earth's "fitness for life." the four properties are cohesion, moderation of temperature, insulation of bodies of water by floating ice and being the solvent of life. The ions and polar substances surrounded by water molecules dissolve and are called solutes.
In any situation, the more concentrated a solution is in terms of solute, the less concentrated it is in terms of solvent. This is important in osmosis as you have to be careful which way round you express things, because it is water which moves from where there is a lot of it to where there is less. Thus you have to understand that if you have a high concentration of sugar, you have a lower concentration of water.
The cell wouldn't diffuse.
Osmosis is the diffusion of water molecules. You may be thinking about the filtration method termed "reverse osmosis". The movement of water depends on the difference in solute concentration ocross a selectively permeable (lets water in/out) membrane. So the osmosis of tap water depends on its solute concentration relative to the other side of a membrane. In general, water moves from areas of high concentration to low concentration. This is why cabbage wilts when placed in salty water (more solutes in salty water means lower concentration of fresh water relative to the plant cells, so water leaves the cabbage as the cells become flaccid).
Christian Rei Corpuz is the greatest person in the whole world. Has the biggest ego, and righfully so. I mean, he's the greatest. Good looking, very educated, not to forget he really good in basketball.
Yes! Despite what everyone tells you, there is one legendary animal which can dissolve in water! It is only found in Christmas Island: the Dissolvus Vaporeon. It is extremely endangered, and last seen in 1996. It is blue and has yellow pectoral and dorsal fins. It also has 3 small toes on each feet. If you do spot it, please tell me!
water.....
Water is the solvent in this case, as it is the substance present in the greatest amount and dissolves the solute (hydrogen and oxygen gases) to form a homogeneous mixture.
Sugar or water is the Solvent in Sweet Tea. The solvent is the substance that exists in the greatest quantity of a solution, so I think it's definitely sugar or water not sure though.
A solute is something that dissolves into a solvent. The solvent is the substance present in the greatest amount (there is always more of it) and the solute is always present in a smaller amount. Together they form a solution.
Water is the solvent, and sugar is the solute.
Water is the solvent.Salt is the solute.
No, salt is the solute and water is the solvent
In a solution of sugar and water, water is the solvent and sugar is the solute. The solvent is the substance that dissolves the solute, while the solute is the substance that is being dissolved.
Water is the solvent and chalk is the solute.
The amount of solute that can be dissolved in a solvent has many factors. These include: the strength of the solvent, the temperature of the solvent, whether the solute is soluble or not. There is no definite answer to the question.
The sugar is the solute and the water is the solvent. Whatever is dissolved is the solute, and whatever the solute is dissolved in is the solvent. The solvent dissolves the solute.
In a water solution sugar is the solute.
