Keep snakes out of chicken cupe?

Try lining the inside of the chicken coop with 1/4" hardware cloth (sometimes called rat wire).

How do you keep snacks away from chicken coop?

If you put mothballs just outside the coop the snakes will keep away. If you are worried about to snake eating the hens eggs you can put old golf balls in some of the laying boxes and the snake will mistake them for eggs, eat them, and die (The golf balls are too hard to digest). If you are woried about to snake hurting or killing the chickens, it's alright, they don't mass with them. I would know.

Do hens lay eggs in the fall?

Yes. Hens will lay all year. Production may drop as the hours of natural light reduce however if you keep the lights in the chicken coop on for the required 14hrs per day your hens will continue to lay eggs with the same regularity as during the summer. My free range hens go out even in the snow, when the natural light only lasts for 9 hours I set a timer to keep the coop well lit for the extra 5hrs needed. Yes. Hens will lay all year. What kind of environment does a chicken need to live in can a chicken be raised in the city?

Chickens can live in a city given proper housing, but many cities have laws prohibiting or limiting chicken keeping. The best thing to do is first find out what the laws are for your town, and make sure your neighbors are OK with it (you probably won't be able to keep a loud rooster, only hens). There are many people living in urban areas who keep small coops with a few hens for eggs--it can be done! Chickens like at least 2 square feet per bird inside their coop, and 8 square feet per bird outside of it. If they are kept completely confined to a coop, 8 square feet per bird is good. Space requirements are even less for bantams, which are miniature chickens. They like to have a coop (any well-ventilated, predator-proof little building you can find/build) and a run (a fenced in outdoor area for hanging out in during the day). If you aren't able to build a fenced in area, you can let them out for a little while in the late afternoon to free range, keeping an eye on them until they go inside for the night. They don't go far, and naturally return to their coop to sleep. There are also coop designs that have a built in run which can be dragged around your yard, which are good for small spaces. Keep in mind that most chickens raised on factory farms are kept in tiny cages with only about the space of your monitor screen to move around in. So whatever environment you provide for them that gives them more space (and some time outside) is bound to be better than that, even in the city.

Where do hen and chicken sleep?

Most farmers have a building where they will keep their chickens. In this building they often have roosts, which are perches the chickens can climb onto to sleep because they seem to feel safer when they are off the ground.

What is a chicken ark?

A chicken ark is a type of chicken coop, also known as a chicken tractor in the United States. It's a portable chicken coop (sometimes A-frame style) that has a chicken coop and chicken run all in one piece. They do not have floors in them so you can move them around the yard and such. They are smaller and only intended for maybe 3-4 chickens at a time. People who keep chickens in the suburbs seem to really like the chicken ark/chicken tractor idea.

What is the name of hen house?

Well, the name of a hen house is a chicken coop. It’s a place where chickens can live comfortably and lay eggs. Some people like to give their chicken coops fun names like “Banty Shanty” or “The Eggcellent Inn”. Also incase you were wondering the terms “chicken coop” and “hen house” are often used interchangeably, but there are some subtle differences between the two. A chicken coop is a structure that provides shelter for chickens and typically includes nesting boxes and roosts. It can be either stationary or mobile and is usually enclosed with wire mesh to keep predators out. On the other hand, a hen house is a more general term that refers to any structure that houses hens, whether it’s a coop, a barn, or a shed. So, in summary, a chicken coop is a type of hen house, but not all hen houses are chicken coops. I hope that clears things up for you. Is there anything else I can help you with?

What do chickens do in FarmVille?

Chickens are animals, so they perform the way animals in farmville do. They take three? days to get ready to harvest, and they give you money, and xp for harvesting them. When you have a lot of chickens, you can get a chicken coop, which cost's 5,000 coins. The chicken coop will hold all your chickens together, so you only have to harvest the coop, and that takes care of all the chickens inside. Also, you can occasionally find a mystery egg in your chicken coop. You can put this up on your wall so people will be able to get it You cannot keep your own mystery egg. You can however, adopt somebody else's that they put on their wall.
