It's possible, and has been considered. Since the Javan tiger is extinct, the nominate subspecies would be the Sumatran race, which is a smaller animal than the Bengal, but larger than the Javan was. First the prey biomass must be in place to support a population of tigers before they can act on this introduction.

Do tigers eat lions?

The habitat ranges of these two creatures do not overlap, but if they do predation of Lions by Tigers is likely since Tigers are known to stalk and prey on mega fauna like bears, crocodiles, elephants and rhinos. The closest their habitats come is in India, and recently when Indian govt. wanted to reintroduce Lions in a national park in the state of Uttar pradesh, rangers and wild life biologists were preempting and planning for possible predation of Lions by Tigers, since Bengal Tigers are arund 25% bigger in size than normal African lions, moreover Asiatic lions are a little smaller than their African cousins.
