If you mean is it safe to own a horse, then it depends. IF you get a nice older horse they can be totally bombproof. However, if you get a young energetic horse they can kill. not to say all young horses are unsafe, but for never being around horses, you should consider an older lesson horse.

When hoof picking a horse before tacking up, you should never bend your knees to get lower to the ground. Instead, bend over at the waist. When putting on the saddle, don't slam it down on the horse's back because some may spook. When tightening the girth, some horses puff out. This means that they fill their stomach's with air so the girth can't be tightened all the way, which makes it more comfortable for the horse. If your horse puffed out and you didn't know it and started riding, the saddle may slide underneath your horse's belly and you may fall off, since the girth is too loose. Also, when tightening the girth, don't yank too hard or else you may get kicked, bit, and or your horse may spook. When putting on the bridle, make sure you put the reins around your horses neck before you take off the halter because your horse may try to run away if spooked or just for a game. If the reins are around their neck, then you have more control over your horse if they try to run off. There are a lot of accidents that may occur when being around horses and you should always be paying attention.

Don't think that just because an animal looks cute, that it cannot hurt you . I heard recently of a person with a pet monkey . The monkey shared the home and mealtime with the family for years. One day the monkey was not given some food it wanted and so it clawed at it's owner and ripped her face off. That is a true story and no exaggeration . Another adult beat it away with something and called the police . It was shot by the police while it was happily eating it's owners face.
