I know of dogs that have very little smell. The typical dog smell comes from oils in the coat. For instance a dog that loves water, like a Labrador Retriever will smell very much like a dog, because he will have more oils in his coat to keep is waterproof. Same with an Otterhound, very smelly dogs. I have a toy breed, A Russian Bolonka named Charley, who's coat smells fabulous but his breath is absolutely terrible. Our Great Pyrenees Ralph, however has very little "doggy smell" at all because his coat is very wooly.

A Viszla is dog that doesn't smell bad normally.
