Seeds that scatter by sticking on the fur of animals are often called burrs. The burrs are carried by the animals to a new location.

In New Zealand we have several of these annoyances. Bidibidi plant has a ball of hooked seeds, about 15mm in dia, and makes a mess of sox. (Corruption of Maori word piripiri.) Another is 'hook grass' a grass with tall seed heads about 400 m high, and rather painful on hairy legs.
