Well, I've seen a few home remedies for this. I'm not sure how effective they are, I'm looking for the answer myself at the moment. Spiders should not be killed because they are important to the ecosystem. Without spiders the whole world would be plagued with insects. If you see a spider in a home just take it outside. Spiders are only attracted to insects in your home.
