saving sharks is very important. they are top ocean predators. the oceans cover 75% of the earth. if sharks disappear of their exisitance diminishes certain fish populations will explode. for example sting ray populations around the chesapeake bay will grow, when they enter the bay they will eat all of the shell fish (aka-oysters) this has numerous affects. no oysters for you sea food lovers, fewer pearls for those who like jewelry and an unhealthier bay. all because some one wanted sharkfin soup. and that is just on a small scale global effects could be devastating.
for the most part in most counrties nothing if there are laws such as in Costa Rica the maifia and black market pays off the government to allow them to hunt the sharks. shark conservation should be very important.
i belive that sharks should be proted coz their cute
I have better reason:
Sharks should be protected because they are the reason we exist.
Millions of years ago continents drifted together into one, called Pangea.
This meant that there was much less coastal water for sea animals to live in, and a new predator appeared, one that was so perfect for its job that it hasn't changed much since: the shark. (most definately not cute ;-)
Animals that sought refuged outside the water evolved into land animals such as we are.
How do we thank the sharks: We fish them out of the water, cut of their fins to make sharkfinsoup. As fishers only want the fins, they throw the still alive shark back into the water to bleed to death. Imagine doing that with say, sheep. Only eat the rear legs, so you cut of the rear legs of the sheep and leave it in the field to die!
I get the foodchain thing and humans eating animals, but this is cruel and wastefull beyond reason.
Without sharks our ecosystem would be disrupted and fish would be over populated along with seals
An endangered species should be protected until they are no longer endangered. This means that the population should be stable and able to support itself.
megalodon sharks, great white sharks, frilled sharks, thresher sharks, tiger sharks, sand tiger sharks, lemon sharks, bull sharks, whale sharks, basking sharks, lepord sharks, black tip sharks. there is 12.
By all means, YES.
Because unlike other sharks, grey nurse sharks give live birth, other sharks lay water-proof sacks when nurse sharks have a placenta like other mammals. Seperating mammals from amphibians and repitles is if they gve live birth. Actually all sharks are fish.
Mako sharks, thresher sharks and Great white sharks
should be protected.
Sharks are protected in Australia.
no, sadly not. Some sharks are considered game fish and are hunted. Shark fin soup is a result of this.
make them a protected species
They both have a spinal cord protected by vertebrae. That is the key trait of all vertebrates. So whales and sharks are both vertebrates.
No, for one, it is protected. Two, white sharks do not do well in captivity.
Yes, they should stop killing sharks!
no there should not be a law on banning sharks......they were made for a purpose in this world
No, for one, it is protected. Two, white sharks do not do well in captivity.
There is an unknown number of Great White Sharks in the northeast. This is due to them breeding and also being a protected species. It is not easy to catch them but when researchers do catch them they tag them.
People should remember to get out of the water calmly and quickly when sharks are seen in their area.
Yes. A lot actually. That's why is Australia these sharks are protected and is against the law to hunt them.
