The year of the tiger is every 12 years the last year of the tigers was in 1998 and 2010 is also the year of the tiger and the next one will be in 2022.
Tigers live to be 15 to 25 years old. Additional Info: The average age in the wild differs from that of those that live in captivity. The difference is worth the note. The average tiger in the wild lives to be any where from eight to 15 years old. The average tiger living in captivity lives to be between, 20 and 25 years old. This is taking the different subspecies in to account. See the sites listed below for more details.
There are a total of nine Tiger subspecies, of those, six subspecies are alive today. While, there are three subspecies that are generally considered to have become extinct within the last century. Of course, proving that they were all killed off during this past century is almost impossible. But, documented proof or evidence hasn't been found recently. The most recently confirmed sighting was in 1979, of a Javan Tiger. For more details, please see sites listed below.
A tiger census published late in March 2011 estimated that there are 1,706 tigers roaming free in India. Although this figure is very low, it is good news, as the census indicates there are 295 more than the last time Indian tigers were counted, in 2006.According to reports, there were 40,000 tigers in India a century ago. The country is home to 40% of the world's tigers, with 23 tiger reserves in 17 states. The 2006 count found a steep fall in India's tiger population to 1,411 from 3,642 animals in a federal census in 2002. Poaching and urbanisation are blamed for the decline in tiger numbers in the country.According to a report in 2011, there are an estimated 1,700 tigers in India.I think about 50 tigers live in India. Just guessing:)
People may fear or dislike tigers due to their reputation as apex predators that can be dangerous to humans. Cultural beliefs, superstitions, and conflicts with humans over resources can also contribute to negative perceptions of tigers. Ultimately, attitudes towards tigers vary among individuals and cultures.
