The pH scale runs from 0 to 14, with 0 being extremely acid and 14 being extremely basic (alkaline). Water with a pH 7 is dead neutral. This is a suitable pH for keeping most tropical fish. If your pH of your water is less than 6.8, it is considered acid water. Fish suitable for acid water include apistogramma dwarf cichlids, angelfish, discus, tetras, gouramis, rasboras, danios, many catfish and barbs. If your pH is more than 7.4 it is considered alkaline. Suitable species for this water include kribensis, some other cichlids, rainbowfish, livebearers (guppies, mollies, platys and swordtails) most barbs and most catfish. Some water is very alkaline, with a pH of over 8. This is generally suitable only for fish that have adapted to survive in these conditions, such as African cichlids - but these are large and demanding, so do plenty of research before you buy a tank for them.
The pH can affect the fish population in different ways depending on how tolerant the fish are to acidity in water. The pH scale is used to measure the degree to which your aquarium's water is acidic, alkaline, or neutral. The scale ranges from 0 to 14 with 0 being the most acidic, 7 being neutral, and 14 being the most basic. Most fish thrive in a pH of 6.4-7.8. However, there are exceptions. Fish are remarkably flexible and they will adapt to a wide range of pH in most cases. But if the pH changes rapidly in a day the fish can get stressed which can cause in death. Obviously, if the acidity in the water gets to high the fish will not be able to survive and that same goes for if the water becomes too basic.
pH is a measure of the acidity or alkalinity of water, measured on a logarithmic scale from 0 -14 with 7 being neutral. Since water is the universal solvent, it incorporates a number of different compounds over time. Natural bodies of water become buffered to a particular pH and remain very stable for for extended periods. The fish that evolve in them become adapted to this level. If there is a sudden change, severe stress and weakening often occurs, as do physiological changes that can create imbalances in an individual that are quite dramatic such as acidosis in Plecostomus that are kept in acid water - they turn white when they die.
Acid rain effects Fishes because when the (acid)rain falls in the pond or the lake, the acid collects in the water becoming stronger and stronger until the fish can't live any longer.
Assuming that they are not specially adapted to live in acidic environments, it burns them.
It puts them into an acidic state with makes them go dizzy !
what effect does acid rain have on sea life?
actually it can't damage fish it can KILL fish.
they die
acid rain effects aquatic animals just like land plants and animals, the rain will mix with the water and make the water that the animals are is acidic causing sickness or death.
Acid rain can affect skyscrapers by degrading the steel and concrete they are made from. Builders combat this by using specialized materials that resist corrosion.
acid rain
The Effects Of Acid Rain On Animals .... All living organisms are interdependent on each other. If a lower life form is killed, other species that depended on it will also be affected. Every animal up the food chain will be affected. Animals and birds, like waterfowl or beavers, which depended on the water for food sources or as a habitat, also begin to die, because of the polution in the water (rivers and seas.) Due to the effects of acid rain, animals which depended on plants for their food also begin to suffer.
If acid rain landed on it
zoologist
Acid rain can dissolve stones.
Fish is more sensitive to acid rain than trees. However, this does not mean that acid rain will not have adverse effects on trees.
acid rain erodes stuff
Acid rain can damage the leaves on trees and can kill them.
no it is effect
Burns your skin. Kills plants. The biggest effect of acid rain is on lakes and streams. It makes the water in them acidic. Fishes are not able to survive in this acidic water. This causes damage to trees. Acid rain also accelerates the decay of building materials and paint. The pollutants generated by acid rain also harm the human health.
no
acid rain is made acidic by pollution in the air. acid rain erodes stone buildings , statues and kills plants and fish .
it will effect the forest as the trees will be damged and we need them the fish will die because of the acid and agriculture will also be affected
Acid Rain destroyes and eats at stones and certain minerals.
every animal is affected by acid rain somehow so yea
