The answers slightly depends on whether you include all killing methods.

Surely, mosquitos that spread malaria kill more people than any other insect, but technically, that's the malaria, not the insect itself.

Locusts swarms destroy crops causing famine and thus also death, but will only do so when in very large numbers. In this case, the insects themselves are responsible, but only indirectly. I think bees kill most when it comes to stings, but the victims are usually allergic to bee stings. The giant Asian hornet seems to have the nastiest sting out there. It can be lethal even to people that are not allergic, but causes less fatalities than the bee stings (probably occurs less).

So, in pure numbers: mosquitos, in (direct or indirect) responsibility: bees.

actually a dog kills more people each year that a shark does. a shark killed one person in 2009 compare that to dogs killing 25 in 2009
