My first dog, a fox terrier cross, started to exhibit protective behaviour including barking, growling etc when he was about a year old. My rottie would bark a few times from about a year onwards but she never really became protective. My doberman puppy at only 9 weeks old today displayed his first signs of protectiveness. When a starnge dog was barking at us through the fence, he stayed at my side when I walked up towards the fence instead of cowering behind me like he used to, and when we were at the fence, he bristled himself up and gave a few deep scary sounding barks, different from his previous playful barks. He never left my side, like he was stuck to me, even as I walked away, didn't have to call him or anything. He's from working lines though, whereas my other dogs were from a pet shop and the rottie from show lines. Seems to make all the difference. He's also the smartest dog I've ever had, incredibly easy to train, and more importantly he's so keen to do what we want him to do, great focus etc.
In answer to your question, will totally depend on the dog. If you can find out when the parents started, odds are your dog will be along the same lines so long as he doesn't have confidence issues.
yes, they are VERY protective of their puppies. tell me about it man.:L
Females do not go through menopause though sometimes there may be a cessation in heat cycles for a period of time and then they can start back up again. As a female ages, her fertility does drop off but she will not go through menopause as humans do. It is also possible for senior dogs to become pregnant. Dropping off of fertility with age does not mean she cannot become pregnant.
definetly and absolutely NOT... female dogs are just as loving and protective as human mothers-- do you see moms suffocating their children?
Dogs can have erections at any age. But very few have them before 5 months.
Both dogs and ants are of the Kingdom Animalia. Ants, however diverge at the phylum level and become Arthropoda, while dogs become Chordata.
yes so protective
Not all dogs are protective. A few protective dogs would Be: Rottweiler, Doberman, German Shepherd, Pit Bull, Yorkie, Chorkie, Chiweenie, Some hairless dogs, And Chihuahua. Those dogs can be protective because they aggression issues or maybe Because they are just obeying their owners
Lots of dogs are protective, particularly with their own family. Dogs originally bred as working dogs, such as German shepherd dogs, are the most protective. It can be a problem if they are allowed to become over-protectiuve as they will then become aggressive with outsiders - animals or people. One of the most protective of dogs is the Italian sheepdog. They will guard more or less anything and are known in Italy for protecting goats and sheep against predators including wolves. In Australia they have been used for guarding penguin colonies which were in danger of etinction.I have attached a link to this question for further information.
Dogs will become inactive as they get older. Its just old age. But have their teeth checked - sometimes it is tooth pain.
An elder is person or animal that has entered its old age, dogs become elders at 7 years of age.
All dogs are classed adults at two years of age.
yes, they are VERY protective of their puppies. tell me about it man.:L
