Rabbits have many predators, including:

  • Cats - e.g. pet cats, lions, lynx, bobcats, mountain lions, tigers
  • Dogs - e.g. pet dogs, wolves, foxes, coyotes
  • Large birds, Birds of Prey - e.g. hawks, owls, eagles, falcons, kestrels
  • Weasels - e.g. stoats, mink, ferrets, wolverines, badgers
  • Bears
  • Racoons
  • Snakes
  • Humans
  • and probably any carnivore or wild animal that's hungry and can fit the rabbit in its mouth

If you have a pet rabbit, especially if you live near a park or lots of trees, or if there are foxes or racoons around your house, it's widely recommended that you keep it inside or have a secured cage or secure wooden or sturdy pastil cage outside that it can sleep in at night so that those predators don't get to them. However, rabbits can also die from shock or heart attack just because a predator is stalking around outside the hutch - to really protect your rabbit, you should let the rabbit escape and hide, like into a private box in the hutch. Keep a close eye on your rabbit while it is out.

Almost everything is a rabbit's predator. Rabbits are a food supply for lots of animals, henceforth the fast reproduction of rabbits to replenish their numbers.

And, from the lighter side: Let's not forget Elmer Fudd!
