The Egyptain Goddess Nut was the goddess of the sky. She is often portrayed as a nude woman wearing a rainbow-like robe and had stars and the sky on her skin. She basically WAS the sky. Sometimes, she was portrayed as a cow carrying the sun across the sky. (The cow was a motherly figure.)
