Charles Darwin discovered exotic and new animals at the Galapagos Islands. It was from there that he hypothesized the theory of evolution.

Whilst studying finches (small birds) in the Galapagos Islands, Charles Darwin discovered that although the birds were from the same species, their characteristics were different. He realized that species change over time and adapt to their environment.

As he observed the animals on the islands, he noted that they were a bit different from each other. He discovered evolution, which led to the discovery of natural selection.

Charles Darwin proposed the theory that the branching pattern of evolution is a result of a process he called natural selection. On an expedition to the Galapagos Islands, he discovered finches that were similar to the ones found somewhere else in the world. Darwin believed that they had somehow gotten over there and adapted to their situation. Natural selection is sort of liking picking individual traits that worked well for a species and changing things that could be better. I am in 7th grade and studying him for a science project but can't find any other discoveries that he made. Charles spent time studying barnacles and beetles, but I'm not aware of any discoveries he made on those. =]
