Alpine goats are a part of the dairy breed. They can be used for milk, to make cheese, soap, and any other product that uses milk. Alpines can also be used for meat, but they aren't as useful in that area because they don't have as much meat as a meat goat.
All goats including Alpines usually have 2 kids. Three is not uncommon, 4 are rare but they happen. One or Two per freshing is the average.
It may be hard to believe but there are more than 300 different breeds of goats. They are one of the oldest known domesticated animals. The breeds are usually classified into groups of what they are most used for: fiber, meat, skin, dairy, pack goats, or companions. Three popular breeds are Nubian, alpines, and angora.
"Innumerable wild goats" is a simple expression used to express seeing goats. It means "a large, undefined number of wild goats."

La Manchas like all goats can have horns or be naturally hornless.La Manchas do have horns. Dairy goats are often dehorned because stupid humans prefer to mutilate animals rather than learn to live w/them; in fact, shows require dairy goats be dehorned whereas meat goats do not. La Mancha bucks have beautiful circling horns, the does' horns are upright like Alpines'. Horns for goats are like panting for dogs, they help regulate the body temperature. Horns also provide protection against predators.
Goats were used for mainly milk,
Alpines.
