Why do people like killing lions?

WHY WHERE LIONS HUNTED ?
I think the lion were hunted because they use to hunt farmers stock.
So the farmers would have a shot gun and shoot the lions when they came near their farm lands.
There also was the problem of people who hunted lions for the fun of it
they would go out and hunt for the lions and then shot them and skin them and leave the reast to rot.
Or they would take the whole lion and sell the meat and get the body stuffed so they could have them in their house as a tropy.



Also, the Barbary Lions which are now extinct in the wild, weren't hunted but, they were used in the Roman times to do this:

EAT CHRISTIANS THAT THE ROMANS THREW INTO THEM! THE 2 HORRIBLE THINGS ARE, IS THAT THE ROMANS WATCHED THIS HAPPENING FOR FUN AND THEIR ARE NO MORE BARBARY OR AFRICAN LIONS IN North Africa!!!!!

Lions were an endangered species. Farmers killed lions to protect their farm animals but also people started killing lions for fun. They just cut off the skin of the lion and either left the body to rot or sold it at the markets. They kept the skin as a prize for killing a lion or stuffed it as trophies. The population of lions started decreasing rapidly when people started killing them.
