What are millipeedes?

They are segmented worm like creatures, but on each segment they have two pairs of small legs. There are lots of legs, hence the name, which means "Thousand legs", but it is a generous name - I have counted only 300 legs.

They are dry like beetles, not wet like earthworms, and they have feelers and rudimentary eyes like beetles.
