An abundance of cool weather, short season plants thrive in Alaska's gardens due to the long periods of sunlight during the summer months. The growing season is short, usually 90 days or less. Vegetables that do well in Alaska include broccoli, cauliflower, peas, carrots, pumpkins, potatoes, Brussels sprouts, beets, and cabbage. Vegetables that do not do well are tomatoes and corn. Alaska has many native wild berries including raspberries, blueberries, huckleberries, currants, and cranberries. These can be found in huge quantities and are free for the picking. Alaska even has morels! There are no fruit or nut trees native to Alaska though crab apple trees are popular and adorn many yards and streets. The climate in Alaska ranges from the sub-tropical rain forests of Southern Alaska to the frozen Arctic of the North. Alaska has hundreds of Native wildflowers including the Arctic rose, fireweed, forget-me-not (the State flower), rose root, goat's beard, cow's parsnip and several varieties of dwarf orchids just to name a few. Trees include willow, alder, spruce, cottonwood, and pine. Oak, maple, hickory, and walnut trees do not grow in Alaska.

animals need plants because animals like deer depend on plants like grass(to eat). and plants need animals because if the animals did not eat the plants then the plants would become an invasive species. and then it would be hard to take back, or exterminate the plant.
Animals' dung make fertilizer for the plants, enriching the soil. Animals eat plants. Animals trod on plants. Animals consume pesky insects that bother plants. Animals consume not-so pesky instects that help plants. Animals pluck plants and wave them around. Animals rub their rears in plants to mark their territory. Animals' dead bodies make fertilizer, which makes it a tad less disgusting than dung fertilizer. Animals affect the plants in many ways, fundamentally.
