Protosists are living organisms in the kingdom Protoctista. They don't have anything in common with the other 4 kindoms (Animals, plants, fungi and monera) so another kingdom was made for them.

An example of a protist is Plasmodium falciparum ( Human malaria parisite). A lot of protosists are parasites :p
