A successful parasite can source all its needs from the host animal. A VERY successful parasite provides some benefits to its host so that there is real incentive to have a parasite. This is called symbiosis.

Successful parasites should/must:

Withstand the unfavorable condition, reproduce within the host, egg/cysts easy to leave outside host, locate new host, enter the host simply, and avoid killing the host.
