I think the advantages and disvantages for the community and the raccoons is that if the community feeds the raccoons when they come then the raccoons will stay and maybe "adapt" to that particular area, and maybe they would have babies and populate the community with raccoons. But if the community ignors them then they will either go away or cause trouble to get food. Or even if they order to take them away then maybe the raccoons will stay away or they will have a better way of a safe life.

WARNING:

RACCOONS CARRY A PARASITE IN THE FECES THAT CAN BE SPREAD TO HUMANS. SINCE RACCOONS AROUND A HOUSE WILL OFTEN LEAVE FECES ON A DECK OR PATIO, THE THE GARDEN, AND ON TABLES, CHAIRS CHILDREN COME IN CONTACT WITH THIS. THIS PARASITE IS SO ACTIVE AND STRONG THAT NO CHEMICAL WILL KILL IT. I LEARNED ABOUT THIS THROUGH A VET, BUT NOT MANY PEOPLE KNOW THIS. SO IF YOU HAVE RACCOONS NEAR YOU MUST KNOW THIS INFO!!!!

It is best not to entice raccoons to visit your yard or house. While they do devour many insects, grubs, mice and other pests, they can also do considerable damage to property as well as spread disease and parasites through their feces. Many of these can be transmitted to humans and can be fatal.
