What type of bird lays greens eggs w/ brown speckles? We are wondering if it a cowbird egg. We found the eggs smashed on the ground w/ embreyos.... wondering if the "host' bird discovered the difference in eggs and kicked them out ?! Thank you, Kris

This description isn't exact enough. There are several birds that these eggs could belong to. One possibility is the Killdeer.
A huge variety of birds lay speckled eggs. These include song birds like the house wren, the nuthatch, and the eastern bluebird along with the house sparrow.
I think Robbins lay those eggs.

There are bantams of just about every breed. Bantams are not just a single breed, bantams describe the size of the bird. There are bantam Cochin which lay brown eggs. The actual contents of the eggs are not green; the green eggs are produced by Araucana hens and Ameraucana hens. Unlike white and brown eggs, the green pigment (color) goes all the way through to the inside of the shell. With brown eggs, when you crack them open, the brown color is only on the outside of the shell. With Araucana eggs, when you crack them open, the green is on the inside of the shell also.
