I believe the dog is a Smithfield. We have one that looks the same . They were cattle dogs named after the Smithfield Markets in England. They are related to Old English sheep dogs. We got ours in Tasmania. Ours was a stray but there are breeders there now also. Our dog is tri-colour rather than black & white/grey .
A Parson Jack Russell Terrier
I can't believe that this is true. The photos of this breed I found online look nothing like the dog on the show. What about Tibetan Terrier?
From Tibetan Terrier Club website:
"The Tibetan Terrier is a medium sized (averaging 14-16 inches at the shoulder, 20-24 pounds) dog whose most dramatic physical characteristic might be the long, profuse, double coat. Coming in a wide variety of colors including white, black, gold, and many combinations, one is often most impressed by their beautiful appearance, but their wonderful qualities are not just "skin deep!"
Tibetan Terriers (often called TTs) are sometimes called a "large dog in a small dog's body," because they have a personality that is more like some of the larger breeds as opposed to what might be expected from their size. They love to play, are very athletic and agile, but at the same time, they can be calm and "laid back." They are not related to other terrier breeds, but are called terriers because breeds of this size were often classified as terriers in England where the dogs were first introduced to the Western World.
Tibetan Terriers are loving companions, and excellent family dogs. But don't just take my word for it. Look around on our site, and learn more!"
I am adding to this answer because I believe this dog is too large to be a Tibetan Terrier - though I agree he looks like one. The Tibetan gets to be about 30 pounds and this dog looks more like 60 or 70. Perhaps he has some bearded collie or sheepdog as well?
