I'm not really a professional in canine behavior. But what i know is, dog mainly lick their paws due to 3 main reasons.1. Pain/irritation. There may be mites or skin parasites that is irritating them. Or maybe infection on the paws?2. Allergy. (itchy?) Food allergy or sensitive skin that causes skin allergy.3. Boredom. When they have nothing to do, they lick their paws or chew their paws or lick everywhere else.

The description of a pet with a white tummy, paws, and face, along with a gray and black striped back, tail, and head, suggests it could be a breed like the American Shorthair or a mixed breed cat. These features are common in various domestic cats, especially those with tabby patterns. To accurately identify the breed, additional characteristics such as body shape, size, and personality traits would be helpful.
White cats with black paws... you said it...
It's just part of their breed, same as a dalmation having spots, and a beagle havign white paws; it's just natural.
Most dogs with a colored coat have black paw pads - it's pretty standard among most breeds and among mixed breed dogs. There are some breeds that may have pink paw pads, and they usually have white fur on their paws as well.
No, they usually do not. White spots on the chest, tail, or paws points towards a mixed breed. You may want to check with your breeder or vet if the dog was supposed to be pure-bred.
There is no way to tell just by the colors what breed that cat might be. It is most likely mixed breed, though.
Panthers don't have spots. Unless you are referring to the black jaguar which has dark black spots under their skin. Also baby panthers (like almost every other baby cat) are born with spots that eventually fade. These spots help camoflauge them.
sounds like a mutt to me

The American Pit Bull Terrier is known to be one of the dog breeds that can be born with pink paws. This coloration is due to a lack of pigmentation in the skin, which can be seen in some puppies. Other breeds may also exhibit similar traits, but pink paws are particularly noted in this breed. As they mature, the paw pads may darken, depending on the individual dog's genetics.

The sentence "the pads on his paws were worn down slick as the rind on an apple" is a simile. It uses "as" to compare the slickness of the worn pads to the smoothness of an apple's rind. This comparison emphasizes the extent of the wear on the paws.
