If you have to kill a fish, there's a few ways to do it humanely.

1. Cut of it's head very quickly

Most people wouldn't like doing this, but it's actually probably the most painless for the fish.

2. Buy some clove oil

Clove oil is an anesthetic for fish that puts them to sleep. After they are asleep you can kill them however you wish.

3. Go to the Vet

You'd probably need a very good reason to get them to do it for you. I've never tried this so I don't know.

Other ways that I don't recommend

1. Flushing

The fish will die slowly in the sewer pipe

2. Alka seltzer

I've tried this and the fish look like they are under a lot of stress and take a long time to die

3. Freezing

People claim it's not painful, but I don't see how being wrapped in a paper towel and put in freezing cold to die slowly over 30 minutes can be a pleasant experience for a fish.

they have weapons like nets and harpoons and fishing poles. nets are to catch normally a larger fish or a school of fish. sometimes they catch unintentional catches like a dolphins and whatnot. harpoons are for killing whales. i am totally against this but i think in Japan or china they kill a lot. And finally, the plain old-fashioned way of catching a fish is by a fishing pole. fishing poles are for catching one fish at a time. HOPE THIS HELPS YOU!

As humanely as possible. The standard way is to lay the fish on it's side on a table or cleaning board. Then smack it sharply on the head with a heavy object (a short billy club called a "priest" is commonly used). Done quickly, the fish does not suffer - death is instantaneous.

Mercury is one heavy metal that affects mostly coastal and farmed fish. There is enough mercury in a common thermometer to kill tons of fish.

Mercury is also the name of a planet.

Either with a fishing rod or using trawlers or fishing nets. Have a look at the TV series Deadliest Catch on virgin 1 and you'll get the idea, that is only for crabs but oh well!
