My cat is being treated for this at the moment. It can be a very serious disease if left untreated.

In a nutshell it is where faeces from the cat's intestine travels up the bile ducts and causes infection and swelling in the liver.

It is not contagious and there is no specific cause of it so it cannot be prevented.
