Breeding for color is hit and miss. The dominant gene in either bird could produce wide variants of color in offspring. Depending on the genetics of the hen and roosters used you may even get throwbacks to previous crosses. For example, your black and red sex link may produce a buff or a silver lace when crossed with the buff Orpington. If you are looking to produce a certain color you may need to select for four or five generations of offspring before getting the one you wish.
The Orpington breed was developed by William Cook in Orpington England located on the southeastern edge of urban London. The breed was developed in the 1880's and his daughter continued to develop new breeds after his death.

The colour. Chickens come in all sorts of breeds and colours. In most cases, you cannot tell what the breed is just by colour. You need several breed identifier "markers" to tell what breed it is other than just colour.

You would certainly have a better chance at getting all black chicks. Due to genetic throwback you have a small chance of getting other colors mixed in with the progeny. When trying to breed true, you should always start with a male and female of the same breed and color you wish. The black Australorp hen was developed from Black Orpington chicken stock but was mixed with the AustraWhite in the 1930's, this gene is still present in todays stock so it is not impossible to get one or two white or black/white chicks even with the two all black parents. Australorps are good duel purpose chickens with excellent egg production. See link below for more information
