u never no wat colour ur horse will b even if u breed blue roan with blue roan u wont nescessarily get a blue roan foal. It works sort of like our hair colour. If both ur parents have red hair the doesn't mean ull have red hair u might have blonde, or brown hair. if this is in regard the the game Howrse (www.howrse.com), then u don't no until 4 months b4 the birth anything about the foal.
Go to this website and it gives you good info about what colour foal you'll probably get:
http://www.animalgenetics.us/CCalculator1.asp
that would depend on the genetic makeup of the horses. whether they are homozygous, heterozygous, hybrid,
it also depends on the stallion as well , the mare needs to carry that certain gene to produce a certain colour , if she doesn't have the gene then she can't produce a foal of that colour same goes for the father as well
New person: try going to http://www.horsetesting.com/CCalculator1.asp i found its really good for finding out what chance you have of getting a certain colour foal from certain coloured parents you dont even need to know what genes the parent horse has though it does help
You have several different possibilities, depending on the genetic makeup of the two horses. Some of the factors that are not apparent are whether the roan is homozygous for roan (he carries two genes for it), whether he is homozygous for black, and whether the palomino carries the gene for bay, either in one or two copies.
Some of the possibilities are: Palomino, buckskin, smokey black, sorrel, bay, black, red roan, blue road, bay roan, or a palomino or buckskin with roaning.
If the roan has two genes for roan, you will get a roan no matter what. If it has two genes for black, you will NOT get a palomino, sorrel or red roan. Otherwise, there is a 50% chance of getting any roan.
In general, there is a 50% chance of getting something with the dilute (palomino) gene. These include palominos, buckskins, and smokey blacks.
Here's a website that is helpful for understanding horse color genetics: www.equinecolor.com
It depends on each horse's genetics as to what the colour of the foal is. Any number of different combinations is possible within black, chestnut, bay, bay roan, strawberry roan and possibly even blue roan (roan on a black base).
Given what you've already said about the horse's colouring, the possible genetics of the bay horse would be Ee/Aa, EE/Aa, EE/AA
Whilst the genetics of the strawberry roan horse could be ee/AA/Rnrn, ee/Aa/Rnrn, ee/AA/RNRN, ee/Aa/RNRN
Most of the time a bay,but if it is mixed with another breed you may get a different color. For example if you breed a bay and another bay but one of them is mixed with a sorrel color you might get a sorrel horse
Palomino Roan could be --eeRnrn or --eeRnRn color genetics at the agouti site are unknown...but could be somewhat determined by the colors of the parents and grandparents.
Bay Roan could be A-EeRnrn, A-EeRnRn or A-EERnrn, A-EERnRn.
If either horse is RnRn all foals produced will be Roan.
If both horses are Rnrn 75% chance of a roan foal.
50% chance that the foal will have the Creme dilution gene.
Base coat color could be bay black or chestnut based on the color genetics of the
mare and stallion.
If the bay horse is Ee there is a 50% chance of the foal being red based, either chestnut or palomino.
If the bay horse is EE no foal can be red based.
If a non red (chestnut) based foal is born there is a 50% chance that the foal will be bay or buckskin if the bay horse or the palomino horse is Aa at the agouti site or 100% chance of bay or buckskin if the the bay horse or palomino horse is AA at the agouti site.
If both parents carry a there is a 25% chance of a black or smokey black foal and, of course if the palomino is aa at the agouti site and the bay is Aa the chance of black or smokey black increases to 50%.
According to the horse color calculator you have the following color chances.
14.58% Gray(buckskin)
14.58%gray (bay)
14.58%Buckskin
14.58% bay.
8.33% Gray (palomino)
8.33%gray (chestnut)
8.33% palomino
8.33%chestnut
2.08% gray (smoky black)
2.08% smoky black
2.08%black.
There are thousands of horse breeds. one breed of horse is the Quarter Horse. or a Clydesdale, Percheron, Palomino, Mustang, Cleveland Bay....ect.
you will get almost any colour because your horses colour is not determined by the colour of it' s parents. you can have two chestnut horses that breed to make a bay foal. unless the horse is bred to be a specific colour, like the Cleavland Bay breed. the foals colour all depends on its genetic material.
Buckskin is a color of a horse. They are not a specific breed, though there are certain breeds that only have the color. For example, the Mustang.
Pinto is a color not a breed of horses. There is a Pinto Horse Association which can include any breed. The American Paint Horse Association includes only horses with Quarter Horse, Paint Horse, or Thoroughbred bloodlines. So a 'Pinto' is a white and any other color in 'patches' of any breed, while a 'Paint' is white and any other color in 'patches' of the Quarter Horse, Paint or Thoroughbred breeds.
They are traditionally bay, grey, chestnut, or black.
This color is bay, and just about every breed of horse can be bay. Many horse breeds can be this colour
I pretty sure that bay is just a horse color not a breed.
No the Chesapeake bay is a dog breed. The Cleveland bay is a horse breed.
You kinda can't. Just breed bays over and over again, but you are not very likely to get a bay every time.
sorrel- a horse with a redish brown coat color. NO BLACK AT ALL. there can be white leg and face markings bay- a horse with a reddish brown coal with a black main, tail, and stripe down the back
50% chance of Grey. The base color will be determined based on the genetics of the parents at the Agouti and Extension sites.
A bay horse is brown with a black mane and tail.
Usually the darker color will dominate, the foals color will usually be the darker of the two. But sometimes it will depend on the genes too.
Buckskin is not a breed of horse but a color. There is a buckskin registry but it has nothing to do with the breed of the horse but his coat color. The Pinto registry is the same thing. The Buckskin registry will take any breed of horse as long as it has the buckskin color.
A few possible breeds include:ArabiansMorgansTennessee Walking HorseQuarter HorseThoroughbredAmerican Mustang HorseCanadian Horse
The Palomino registry is a color registry. The horse must be the correct color to be registered with the breed. A horse can be a palomino and not a member of the breed, but the breed has only palomino colored horses in it. Palomino is a breed and a color although it is most often used as the color for example i have a Palomino Dun Appaloosa
The following is a website that has a picture of a light bay horse. It is labeled and towards the bottom. All of these horses are Andalusians but the coat color is the same no matter the breed. http:/www.equiandalusian.com/plantilla.cfm?valor=SeccionCapas
